Getaway Faves

Getaway Faves

Hey guys.

Since the next month for me includes a fair bit of travel, I put together a list of my favourite things to pack for getaways. For plane rides, go for a comfortable, yet chic look with these 1.61 drawstring pants and Osman crop top. I’m a big fan of totes when travelling and this white leather Smythson is the holy grail of handbags. It’s perfect for shoving the latest issue of Vogue, sunscreen, a water bottle, and whatever other necessities you find you just can’t part with. Don’t forget to protect your iPad with this beyond-cute Toucan print case from Kate Spade. For lunches and nights out opt for a fun clutch like this Marc by Marc Jacobs one featuring his signature bulldog. You can thank the fashion gods for the latest obsession with Birks because these guys are the perfect shoe for exploring your destination city. Don’t forget to document the trip: I especially love the Fuji film Instax camera that instantly prints out photos as you take them. In terms of beauty, low key is best. Simply spray in some Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray for the perfect beach waves and you’re out the door in seconds. I also love this Bobbi Brown multi-tasking cream that works on both your cheeks and lips. Lastly, opt for a bright nail colour on your trip. I am currently obsessed with this bright blue from Essie that goes perfectly with the seasons whites. Be sure to pack a pair of cute sunnies. I like this Tory Burch pair that are classic and neutral enough to pair with any outfit. Lastly, no matter if you’re going to the beach or the city, always pack a swimsuit. I love this classic nautical striped two-piece by Chloe.

Wishing you all safe travels and a good first week of May!

Weekend It-List

Hey Everyone!

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m definitely looking forward to unwinding this weekend. After a crazy month of April, I finally have a weekend off from work. Today I’ve planned a coffee date, mani/pedi and morning at the St. Lawrence Farmer’s Market (most likely, throw in an hour of shopping in there too). Later on, I’ve got a night out with my girlfriends to a celebrate a birthday. This is my ideal weekend, with Friday night spent relaxing after work—with a book, obvi— and Sunday spent working on my Thesis. I know, it might sound totally boring, but I cherish this down time. I also love NOT dressing up for work and getting to wear whatever my heart contends (think distressed boyfriend jeans, sneakers, and a baseball tee).

For a little weekend reading I decided to put together an It-List of all the best things in Fashion at the moment:

1. Sophia Webster for J.Crew. Check out these bad-boys. I die. Sadly, they are not sold in Canada, but get your fix online here. Or follow her on Instagram. She is beyond cute and the endless photos of insane shoes don’t hurt either.

2. Emma Stone. Gracing this months cover of Vogue, she is hands down the It-Girl in Hollywood right now. I’ve loved her since her Easy-A days and I cannot get enough of her newly Ombre bangs. Ah-mah-zing. Also don’t forget to see Spiderman 2 this weekend.

3. Hannah Bronfman. The DJ and Co-founder of the Beautified App is notorious for popping up at all the latest fashion events and even debued her first time on the catwalk at Donna Karan this past New York Fashion Week. Be sure to follow her for on Instagram and you’ll catch her dancing like a boss in Beyonce fitness classes. No seriously.

4. The Mean Girls of Fashion. A detailed map of the various cliques in the Fashion industry. So, so Awesome. I mean, like, so Fetch. I CANT EVEN. Brought to you by the Coveteur.

5. Ok, my love of sneakers will never end. This collab between Tibi (like, what!?!) and Vans is beyond me. Get your pair here.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Monday Obsessions

Hey Ya’ll,

It’s been two weeks of hell….from pouring my blood, sweat and tears into finals while working 50 plus hours at both J.Crew and Ryerson to figuring out the whole summer internship thing. I’m finally done finals, but I still have my thesis proposal paper to complete in the next two weeks. My research focus is on the online fashion publication and how print magazines can succeed on the web. It’s going to be one long year working on my thesis but I can’t wait to dig in and really get started with research in the next couple weeks.

I’ve got a busy, but fun month of May to look forward to—from Vancouver one weekend to NYC another—and I am definitely ready for a little fun. All work and no play makes for one unhappy gal.

Here’s a little list of awesomeness to get you through this Monday morning.

Kate Moss, Cara Delevinge, TopShop….watch this for a little preview of the amazing collaboration that hits stores April 30th

I’m obsessed with this sporty dress….simply pair it with these sandals and this bag and you’re good to go…easy dressing at its finest.

It’s job-hunting season so read this before your next big interview.

I’m a long time loyal customer to Nordstrom and everyone knows I love a good printed Nike Airmax…check out my latest favourite closet on The Coveteur.

As many of my days are spent staring at my laptop computer screen, a knowledge of the best cafes in Toronto is a necessary feat. R Squared Cafe, located at Queen West, is honestly one of my favourite cafes…ever. Plenty of tables for studying, functioning wifi, and an awesome selection of coffee drinks on the menu. What more could you want?

Bow-Down B*tches! If you havn’t already seen this months cover of Time Magazine….Queen B is rocking it as one of the 100 most influential people.

A peek inside the infamous Vogue creative director Grace Coddington’s New York Apartment….(Obviously, I’m obsessed with her feline friend)

And finally: One of my favourite Vancouver stores now has a pop-up shop on Queen West! Hooray!

Have yourselves a lovely, stress-free week!

Weekend Reading

OH happy day! It’s the weekend.

Stoked it’s the weekend. Been battling a cold and homework while at the same time pulling all-nighters at the store! Joy. No Sleep + Being Sick = Never getting better. Tonight, after not going to bed until 5am this morning for a few measly hours of interrupted sleep, I am going to finally attend Toronto Fashion Week. A few friends and I are hitting up Stephan Caras and then going out for dinner. Even though I am insanely tired and probably burnt out, I am very much excited to finally get to a show this week. And then I’m also equally excited to go to bed after. And the next night. As for you lucky readers, I put together a mash up of my favourite things on the internet this week.

1.  A Few tips from Vogue:  Stay in shape with Nike.

2. Have you seen the new Clueless Music Video?

3. It’s finally Spring (at least according to the date). Check out the best floral outfits for this season.

4. Love this article about things Creative People do differently.

5. Spring Trends by the letters A-Z.

6. I can’t get enough of Between Two Ferns with  Zack Galifanakis and Obama . Great way to advertise Obamacare! While on the topic of the Obamas, you should probably also watch this.

7. Call me Drunk In Love with these sweatshirts.

8. Does Drinking Make You Funnier?  Only way to know is to ask someone sober right?

9. Brought to you by the creator of cronuts, how genius are these?

Hope you have an awesome weekend. And get some sleep!

Easy Dressing

Easy Dressing
Watch  |  Nail Polish  |  Glasses  |  Shirt  |  iPhone Case  |  Purse  |   Sneakers   |   Jeans  |  Sweater Coat

Hey Everyone!

With our clocks set ahead one hour this Sunday I thought I should start posting a few of my favourite Spring trends. I know today is exceptionally warm out, but trust me fellow Torontonians, it is just a tease. Sadly, tomorrow is supposed to snow a crap load and go back down to -17, so brace yourselves. Anyway, This outfit speaks to my personal style in volumes. It’s all about being trendy yet relaxed and comfortable. I’m all about the sneaker game and die for these woven Nike high tops. Similarly, I’m obsessed with the oversized sweater coat look; it goes with everything, especially in this warm camel colour, and will keep you warm with the weather transitioning. Boyfriend jeans are another staple this spring and in a light wash you can’t go wrong. Pair these with sneakers or dress ’em up with your favourite heels. Lastly, Ice cream colours are also a favourite trend and I’m loving cotton candy pinks and buttercup yellows. Spring is definitely a time to experiment with nail colours.

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m looking forward to lighter layers and warmer weather! Stay tuned for more Spring Fashion reports!

New York, New York

{Me in Washington Square doing Banana Jumps}

Happy Monday Everyone.

I’m so glad it’s March….it means Spring is on the way and this soul-killing weather will soon die away. This month has been extremely busy with school work piling up and applying to internships for the summer semester. I was actually in New York City a few weeks ago to visit a friend and we had the best time ever. I’m not sure whether it’s the lure of the intensely trendy fashion industry workers, the never-ending list of gourmet restaurants, or the best shopping in all of the world, but something always draws me in. When I’m in the city I can’t help but channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw, Blair Waldorf and Shoshanna Shapiro (if it’s even possible to combine those three characters). I imagine where each of these famous TV personas would eat lunch, shop, and venture and feel an immediate desire to go there. Each time I’ve gone to New York I’ve made a list of about 20 places to see, but I always end up maybe getting to one or two and finding a million other cool places instead. Needless to say, I love NYC and I cannot wait to move there once I finish school next year!

Obviously, if you have never been to New York City I suggest hitting up the regular tourists spots such as Times Square, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, and all that, but for the more fashion-inspired tourist,  here’s a little inspiration for your next NYC trip:

1. Buvette. Go here for Brunch. Located in the West Village, it’s perfect for a date with their abundance of red wine and cheeses or simply catching up with a friend. Plenty of fresh mini croissants, rich lattes, and not to mention the elegant French decor. Stroll down Bleecker Street after for a little mid day shopping. Don’t forget a Magnolia pitstop.

2. Saturday morning, snap a few Instas on the The High Line and check out the Chelsea Market. My personal favourites here include: Amy’s Bread (bakery), Cull & Pistol (Oyster Bar), the Doughnuttery (self-explanatory), and Posman Books (boutique stationary & bookstore).

3. Gossip over lunch with girlfriends at ABC Kitchen Restaurant. I personally would go for the Akaushi Cheeseburger and wash it down with a Gojin & Juice cocktail. The restaurant is an off-shoot of the amazing home design store ABC so be sure to make a shopping trip out of lunch.

4. Hit up Brooklyn for Brunch and some Vintage Shopping. Best Brooklyn Brunch spots include Five Leaves and Ted & Honey. Best Vintage Shops include Mafalda and Eva Gentry Consignment.

5. If you’ve got another free morning for breakfast, I would also hit up Jack’s Wife Freda. This is the perfect place to start off a day of shopping in Soho. Favourite stores include Creatures of Comfort, which offers a perfectly-curated mix of laid-back and sophisticated pieces, and then there’s Resurrection, featuring pricey vintage pieces that are well worth checking out even if you can’t afford it!

6. A few restaurant recommendations :

The Fat Radish, located on the Lower East Side, is a casual gourmet food restaurant featuring fresh and local ingredients. To Order: Devilled Brussels Sprouts, Truffled Duck Fat Chips, Edlerflower Lemonade, and the Montauk Diver Scallops

Roberta’s located in Bushwick, this restaurant has catered for the Guggenheim and Milk Studios and is well-known for their delicious stone-oven pizzas. To Order: the Good Girl Pizza, Coffee Roasted Beets, and the Roasted Pumpkin.

Lafayette located in Noho is a fashionable two-floor French Grande Cafe good for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. To Order: the Black Fettuccine, cuttlefish, ruby shrimp and chorizo, the Nantucket Bay Scallops to start, and the Martinique Mule to drink.

The Beatrice Inn located in the West Village, this place is a classic Chophouse brought to you by Graydon Carter, editor in chief of Vanity Fair. Go here for your steak fix.

Make sure you hit up at least one of these restaurants. I promise they are all well worth it, if not for the food, then the people.

I know the list can go on and on and I could keep naming places but I think I better stop for the sake of this post.  As I mentioned, I’m slightly obsessed with NYC so shoot me a message if you would like more recommendations.

Hope you’re next trip to NYC is the most exquisite, fun-filled adventure. Whether you are a foodie, a shopaholic, or are just along for the ride, I think New York has a little bit of something for everyone.
